P111 Goku: I’m sick of camping out!! Gojyo: Shut it.  We get it already. Hakkai: The map must be old.  There’s no village either... Goku: Food food food.  I can’t sleep like this! sfx: flail flail Narration: Matter of life and death Sanzo: Suck it up.  Noisy... Katagiri Ikumi Before I knew it, the mini Goku-chan story I had planned to draw transformed into a Gojyo manga.  Congratulations on the new new new Saiyuki anime!

Endou Minari This is Endou who was supposed to be a Sanzo fan, but recently Goku’s smile has seeped into my heart.  I wonder if this is what it means to get old... My favorite character is Sharak Sanzo, and I love everything about her so much.  Also, I reread all the books to prep for this anthology, and I think Hakkai and Kanan are just too cute!  Huh?  This isn’t the place to talk about that?  Character limit?  So heartless.  It’s too bad there are so many fascinating characters and I don’t have space to write about them all.  I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen in Saiyuki, now that it’s entered the final stage and is getting more and more exciting.

P128 Kogami Nana Thank you very much for inviting me to participate in this.  Congratulations on the anime!  I really love how Kougaiji interacts with Lirin-chan.  I love Lirin-chan’s personality, her muscular yet flexible legs, and her voluptuous chest.

Kouga Yun I’ve had a long relationship with the Sanzo gang.  I’ll always love them.  I plan to continue stalking Sanzo and watching over him for years to come.  I pray for Minekura Sensei’s health above all!

So, I feel the overwhelming need to discuss the otome-game-turned-anime Meiji Tokyo Renka created by Yukiko Uozumi. When I first watched the anime, I shipped Mei Ayazuki with Ougai Mori, the Japanese army surgeon and novelist. Mei adored Ougai-san. Ougai-san adored Mei. And, certainly, the show itself was firmly shipping them together from the start, the culmination being their goodbye kiss in the final episode of the anime series. So, it was no surprise when I, of course, shipped them as well. They have fantastic chemistry and their love story is sweet and tenderly passionate. However, after looking into the source material the anime is based on and then watching the live-action film that was released in 2019, while I can still see the merits of the Ougai x Mei pairing, I am now a staunch and devoted shipper of Charlie (Tenichi Shoukyousai) and Mei. The first and most important reason being: Charlie sent Mei to Meiji era Japan, and he did it all for HER. Because he loves her and wants to see her happy, to smile from the depths of her heart. Mei was miserable in modern Japan, having been ostracised by the people around her for simply being able to see and speak to spirits around her, and had closed herself off. As the spirit of her kitsune youkai charm on her cellphone, Charlie saw this and his heart ached to help Mei. In his mind, Meiji era Japan would be far more accepting of his mistress; Mei would easily be able to find a man there who would cherish her, and she would be happy. The truly heartbreaking thing is that, while he loves Mei, Charlie doesn’t think he is worthy enough or the right one for the job. That's why he gathered his power, took human form, and sent Mei to the past under the guise of a street magician. However, doing so expended a lot of his energy and, depending on which media storyline you consume, does effect his life. And to top it all off, in the original otome game, the Charlie route is the true one, the one you can only access once all of the others are played, which only cements in my mind that the creator meant for Mei to end up with him. Watch the live-action film which showcases the Charlie x Mei pairing as endgame and not only will you cry/sob by the end, but you will surely ship them as well. Also, FYI and a teensy-bit off-topic, but Toshiyuki Morikawa who voices Charlie in the anime and the otome game makes Charlie sound so charming, gentle, and silly. It's truly incredible to me that Toshiyuki-san, the same man who voiced Naraku, freakin’ NARAKU, from InuYasha, voiced Charlie. I mean, SUGOI! Such an incredible acting and vocal range!
